Madera County, Chowchilla, 2 Farm Bureaus and others allege likelihood of harm
Public agencies and private landowners within Madera County filed lawsuits against the High Speed Rail Authority on Friday.
Both suits allege the proposed rail project would result in greater impacts on farmlands than what is accounted for in the authority’s recently approved Environmental Impact Report.
The City of Chowchilla, after a unanimous vote by city council members, alleges in its lawsuit that the EIR does not meet the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) or National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA).
