A dream to become homeowners officially came true Tuesday morning for a Madera family of three.
With the help of Neighborhood Stabilization Program 3 (NSP3) funds, three groups — the County of Madera, City of Madera and the successor agency to the former Madera Redevelopment Agency — joined to assist local couple Gerardo Lopez and Maribel Valenzuela in buying a previously foreclosed home.
Lopez said the family was grateful to have a home for their 2-year-old son Romeo, and family poodle Dodger.
“To see my son have a place to call his home and not just a room anymore, words can’t explain it,” said Lopez, 24, after receiving the keys to his new house. “This is a big accomplishment and another milestone; this can’t top anything right now.” ...
