YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK (AP) — The road to one of the most beautiful lookout points in Yosemite National Park is set to open after the last of the snow has cleared.
Park officials say Glacier Point Road will open for the season at noon on Friday. The road runs up to Glacier Point, which offers stunning views of Yosemite Valley, Half Dome and several waterfalls.
Park officials, however, say there will be limited services at Glacier Point. Vault toilets will be available, but there will be no running water.
The road is closed during the winter, and officials are warning that snowmelt on the roads could pose a danger.
Tioga Pass Road, which rises to nearly 10,000 feet in elevation as it winds to the park’s eastern entrance, is tentatively scheduled to open May 11.
