Congressman to hold high-speed rail hearing

A congressional hearing on California's high-speed rail will take place in Madera next week, with a list of witnesses asked to testify.

Congressman Jeff Denham announced the list of invited witnesses Friday for the hearing, which will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Auditorium AM120 at Madera Community College, 30277 Avenue 12.

Among the list of invited witnesses are: Dan Richard, High-Speed Rail Authority chairman; Anja Raudabaugh, executive director of the Madera County Farm Bureau; Kole Upton, vice president of agricultural group Preserve Our Heritage; Doug Verboon, Kings County Board of Supervisors chairman; Louis Thompson, chairman of the state High-Speed Rail Peer Review Group, and Al Smith, Fresno Chamber of Commerce president and CEO.

The public is encouraged to attend the hearing, but only invited witnesses will be allowed to testify...
