An alleged incident of road rage about 5:30 a.m. Friday caused a 10-car pileup on State Route 99, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Both southbound lanes of the freeway, north of Highway 145, were blocked for about an hour as emergency crews worked to treat the injured, and clear the vehicles and debris from the roadway.
A CHP officer said numerous people sustained minor injuries in the crash, and the heavy morning traffic was slowed by and detoured around the multiple collisions out onto the shoulder of the roadway.
