W ith all precincts in Madera County’s 3rd supervisorial district reporting, Gary Svanda came out on top in Tuesday’s primary election but will face Rick Farinelli, who came in second, in a runoff election in November.
Svanda, a sitting Madera City Council member, got 38.6 percent of the vote to Farinelli’s 28.5 percent. Isabella Barraras garnered 23.8 percent, and Dr. Loraine Goodwin got 8.8 percent.
A gratified Svanda said, “First of all, I would like to thank all of the people who helped in my campaign. Thisis obviously a huge success for myself and the people who supported me. I want to especially thank the voters of District 3 for having confidence in me.”
Farinelli optimistically reflected that his campaign workers had given it their all. “We were walking streets this last weekend,” said Farinelli. “We are ready for a runoff race.” ...
