Minarets High School graduate Joshua Taylor Dowell, son of Ricky and Dawna Dowell, was named as one of four recipients of $1,000 scholarships given by Madera County Cattlewomen’s Association and Madera County Cattlemen’s Association, according to information from the associations.
Dowell, who maintained a 3.8 GPA, was a member of the National Society of High School Students. He was student body president, and also was president the past two years of the San Joaquin Region of Future Farmers of America.
He plans to attend Fresno State, majoring in animal science and minoring in food safety. He then hopes to go on to veterinary school, specializing in food safety so he can pursue a career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
