One entry showed a variety of superheroes from Batman to Wonder Woman united in the stand against crime. Another displayed the well-known shadowy figure from neighborhood watch signs in its classic menacing pose and hat.
The common denominator among the nearly 30 artworks was all of them were created by local children from ages 8 to 17.
The theme of the art, “Children Against Crime,” was part of the Madera Neighborhood Revitalization and Madera Police Departments’ efforts to not only raise awareness about crime among youth but promote Madera’s first-ever National Night Out (NNO) series of events.
“This is our first time ever doing this,” said neighborhood outreach specialist Sue Saunders. “We’re very excited and we feel that this has already been a real success.” ...
