An 8-month-old baby kidnapped in Corcoran was recovered uninjured Friday morning on State Route 99, just south of Avenue 18 1/2, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fleeing maroon GEO Metro, driven by the baby’s father, was spotted about 8:30 a.m. northbound on SR 99.
Acting CHP commander Sgt. Michael Donnelly said Madera CHP officers were in the right place at the right time to conclude a long pursuit, which had started two hours earlier in Corcoran.
“The baby was taken from the mother by force at her home in Corcoran about 6 am, by the estranged father, who had been harassing the mother for several weeks and was under a restraining order. He kicked in a window and took the baby, and then said he was planning to ‘sell it’... or somehow end up on the news,” Donnelly said...
