Foes of 5,200-home Ranchos-area development say they will continue fight
One of several large-scale housing developments planned on the east side of Madera County cleared a major legal hurdle in Madera Superior Court last month, though opponents of the project say the fight is far from over.
The Tesoro Viejo project, as planned, would be built to the east of State Route 41 north of Avenue 12. As designed, the development would create 5,200 homes, 3 million square feet of commercial and industrial space, 15 miles of recreational trails and 7,000 jobs, according to a press release from Tesoro Viejo, Inc.
The housing project is one of several planned for the south side of the county, including the Gunner Ranch West project which awaits supervisor approval, North Shore at Millerton, and Gateway Village.
