The unique sounds of Baloney Creek — featuring a little swing, a bit of blues, and a collection of country and old time fiddle tunes, intertwined with traditional bluegrass that will get your toes tapping — can be heard Sunday evening in Chowchilla’s downtown Veteran’s Park.

The band will play at 7 p.m. in the second and final Chowchilla concert of the Madera County Arts Councils’ Summer Concert in the Park series. A record crowd attended the first concert, featuring the AUSA Military Band and the Sounds of Freedom.

Baloney Creek’s talented musicians are Richard Rhyne on guitar and banjo, Ed Bell, vocals, guitar and fiddle, versatile Barbara LaRae who plays guitar, banjo, mandolin and string bass, and lead vocalist Dalisay Richter. Richter has also traveled the world entertaining as a four-time state fiddle champion. The band has performed at fairs and bluegrass festivals throughout the Valley and has entertained at churches and private parties.

The Soroptimist Club of Chowchilla will serve refreshments including hotdogs, nachos and other treats prior to and during the concert. In addition, activities beginning at 4 p.m. will include face painting by the Chowchilla 4-H, bookmark crafts by the Friends of Chowchilla Library and games for children and adults by the Greenhills Lions Club.
