The Madera Elks Lodge plans to host their annual Dinner for Dictionaries this month to raise funds for the purchase of “The Best Dictionary for Students” and distribute them to third-grade students throughout Madera County schools.
The dinner is slated for 7 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Elks Lodge, 112 W. Sixth Street. Dinner will include barrel tri-tip, ham hock beans, poppy slaw salad, rolls and desert. Tickets are $10 and, for those who can’t stay to eat, takeouts are available from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
According to Dictionary Project coordinator Timi Milor, for the past five years members of the Elks Lodge have given thousands of free dictionaries to third-grade students.
