Little Miss Madera County following in her aunt’s footsteps

Nine-year-old Kylie Marie Cunningham stepped into the world of beauty con- tests at an early age, taking after her aunt Mary Cunningham, a Chowchilla resident who was crowned Little Miss Madera County in 1976. This year, Kylie reached that goal when she was crowned Little Miss Madera County.

“I just wanted to be there for all of my family and to be proud of myself,” said Kylie, who just completed third grade at Dixieland Elementary School.

Last year, she was the runner-up for Little Miss Madera County. Aside from the crown, tiara, sash, fresh bouquet of flowers and $50 she received prior to the start of the Chowchilla-Madera County Fair last month, Kylie won a talent contest by dancing.

Those two were only part of a dozen amateur contests the honor roll student has won, said Lisa Cunningham, her grandmother...
