Harvest Festival preparations begin

The beginning of this weekend will see carnival games, local food vendors, and bands take to the St. Joachim school yard in two days of entertainment for the church’s annual Harvest Festival.

Volunteers were out Wednesday evening setting up the stands and barriers necessary to accommodate the thousands expected to attend the free event, which runs from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

“This is definitely one of our biggest fundraisers of the year,” said Madera City Councilwoman Sally Bomprezzi, who co-chaired the festival this year. “It’s about fun. It’s about getting our ministries out there, and it’s just always a good time.”

Because of road construction taking place on 4th Street near St. Joachim, Bomprezzi recommended visitors park in the church lot and use a temporary crosswalk to get to the school...
