Dozens of dogs ran, played, sniffed, did their thing, and made new friends during the Central Cali Kennel Club biannual dog show held Saturday at the Dog Park at Rotary Park.
The show was co-sponsored by the Designer Breed Registry, the American Dog Federation and the Madera Parks and Community Services Department. The show was dedicated to the memory of Jennifer Orta-Villarreal, who recently lost her battle with cancer.
There was also a second show by Cynthia Ortegon and Kathi Stokes of Friends of the Dog Park (FDP) that featured awards for the cutest, ugliest, best costume and owner-dog look-alike contests.
Several booths offered information and services to dog owners. Madera Animal Hospital gave vaccinations and Dawg Pause featured tips and dog grooming. Friends of Madera Animal Shelter gave spay and neuter vouchers. The Madera South High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) held a fundraiser and sold T-shirts.
