More stores, more options for trends
Madera youth preparing to go back to school this month say they are having an easier time shopping the latest trends with the opening of two new clothing stores.
Marshalls, a discount department store, and Rue 21, a teen clothing store, opened within two weeks of each other in The Commons at Madera Fairgrounds shopping center on Cleveland Avenue, providing back-to-school shoppers with local retail options.
“We’re excited that we don’t have to drive to Fresno or Merced to shop,” said Becky Velasquez, a Chowchilla mom shopping with her sons Vincent Velasquez, 9, and Robert Guillermo, 14. “I like Marshalls because they have a variety of brands and styles and my boys are picky. We’re just looking for the usual, jeans and Tshirts.”
While the jeans-and-a-tee look is classic, style experts say this year’s biggest trends for boys include graphic and screen print tees, colored denim, active wear and long-sleeved knit shirts...
