Balls were rolling in all 18 lanes of the local bowling alley as Madera County residents and businesses participated in a national campaign that raised $8,400 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central California.
The 27th annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake in Madera on Saturday at Valley Bowl was one of five held in four Central Valley counties to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
BBBS is a mentoring organization where volunteers are paired with children to encourage a one on one nurturing relationship built on trust and friendship, the organization’s Web site said. Fundraising helps pay for background checks on volunteers to ensure child safety and provide ongoing support for children and volunteers.
