MADERA RANCHOS — Between Saturday and Tuesday, two panels of fencing were taken from the Liberty Ranchos Baseball League rookie field on Ruth Avenue at Webster Elementary School.
League officials are dumbfounded as to why two of the three fencing panels would get stolen. The panels are about 125 feet in length and about five feet high, covered with heavy-duty netting and sponsor banners. The league estimates the cost at $1,500.
“We have no idea who did it and why,” said Dina Hershberger, snack bar coordinator. “It’s just netting and PVC pipe. We are in shock and can’t believe it. Those panels are extremely heavy and it would have taken a few people to get it up and over the fence” surrounding Webster.
