The Madera Elks Lodge #1918 installed its new officers and trustees at a formal ceremony at the lodge. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the lodge, which was founded in 1954 in a two-story home at the corner of B and Sixth streets.
Installing Elks officers came from around the Central Valley — including Fresno, Clovis, Porterville and Delano — for the ceremony and a baked chicken and garlic mashed potatoes dinner at the current lodge, 112 W. Sixth Street.
The following members were installed Thursday for the 2014-15 year: Exalted Ruler John Bliss, Leading Knight Charles D. Johnson, Loyal Knight Denise Holdcroft, Lecturing Knight Adam Thomas, Secretary Virgie Chavira, Treasurer Harold Johnson, Tiler Rudolph Garibay, Esquire Doug Row, Inner Guard Gary Gregory, Organist Mokey Cowger, and Chaplain Marcille Milor.
The following trustees were also installed: five-year trustee Douglas Nelson, four-year trustee Vern Gomes, three-year trustee Mark R. Meyers, two-year trustee James McNaughton and one-year trustee Russell Suderman...
