In an uncommon display of citizen crime fighting, an alleged burglar on an apparent AB109 probation release was caught red-handed and detained by several Maderans until police arrived early Wednesday morning.
Jeremy Williams, 37, was allegedly burglarizing a garage on the 200 block of N. K. St. in central Madera around 5:20 a.m. when residents of the home confronted him. Williams, with a “long list of arrests and convictions” according to Madera Police Sgt. Matt Wiles, put heels to pavement and fled westbound down 5th street after that confrontation.
Along the way, a citizen waiting for a ride to work saw the victims chasing Williams, surmised what was happening, and stuck out his foot to trip him up.
