An Oakhurst man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of setting off an incendiary device at Bass Lake Courthouse and calling in bomb threats to two local news agencies.
William Shannon Reed, 42, was arrested about 1:30 p.m. near Dale Road and Road 426 in Oakhurst. He was standing beside a stolen truck with a flat tire when deputies arrived, Madera County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Erica Stuart said.
The investigation began Aug. 14 when CalFire investigators and sheriff’s deputies, along with a bomb sniffing canine, were dispatched to the courthouse on Road 274. No one was injured in the blast, which occured sometime between 4 and 4:30 a.m., Stuart said.
