In retrospect it seems like these two wonderful Maderans were destined to live and work together to better the community. John and Shirley Sudduth were born in the same hospital, St. Luke’s in Kansas City, Missouri, less than two years apart, and both in May. Twenty years later in 1957 they went on their first date together.
They had met through mutual friends who invited Shirley to an engagement party to specifically meet John.
“I had met him once but he wouldn’t even say ‘hello’ so I didn’t like him to begin with,” said Shirley.
The friends distracted John’s date for the evening and he and Shirley met again...
