OAKHURST — Business is back on State Route 41 towards Yosemite as cars started streaming back to Oakhurst after the Junction Fire was under control.
Smoke has died down along the road but burnt trees and grass can be seen on the mountains.
The fire started at 1:50 p.m. Monday and the cause remains unknown. The fire grew to 1,200 acres before fire crews limited it to 612 acres of land Wednesday morning; 2,203 buildings were still threatened.
It took about 130 fire engines, 1,094 personnel and four helicopters among others to contain the fire by 40 percent. Nine buildings were destroyed so far...
