Any expectation that Madera Unified will receive help from the state to augment funds raised by passing Measure G, the local school bond measure, in the Nov. election have been dashed.

According to reports Tuesday evening from Sacramento, there will be no state school facilities bond on the November ballot.

Capital Public Radio reported Tuesday that the governor’s office, when asked about the state school facilities bond proposal Assembly Bill 2235, said, “It’s dead.”

Assemblywoman Joan Buchanan (D-Alamo), co-author of the bill, said Tuesday, “The governor has made it clear that he does not want a school bond on the same ballot as the water bond ... We do not expect the legislature to send the bill to him.” ...
