In an effort to relieve the burdens of unemployed farmers, the Latino Water Coalition is teaming up with two news stations for a canned food drive to help supply food banks in the Central Valley.
The Madera Irrigation District office at 12152 Road 28 1/4 will collect food donations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.
The Central Valley is facing one of its worst droughts in history with zero water allocation, said executive director of the coalition, Mario Santoyo.
