In celebration of Patriot Day and in memory of 9/11 casualties, members of the Madera American Legion Post 11 honored veterans and retired flags of our country during a Saturday event attended by 150 citizens.
Special guests for the day included supervisors David Rogers and Rick Farinelli and District Attorney Michael Keitz.
The day began with an all you could eat breakfast at the post on Road 26. Post Cdr. John Hancock and Chowchilla Police Chief Jay Varney welcomed guests before a moment of silence exactly at 8:45 a.m. for the fallen of 9/11.
Members of the Design Science High School Honor Guard presented the colors, Sabrina Yniguez sang the national anthem and post Sgt. at Arms David Rodriguez placed the POW/MIA Flag.
