Two hundred fifty educators and friends of education attended the 8th annual Excellence in Education Awards Ceremony to honor Madera County’s top school employee, administrator, and teacher for 2014.
The top school employee was Michael Tamberi, head custodian at Madera Unified’s Madison Elementary School. The top administrator was Gayle Fain, principal of North Fork School in the Chawanakee Unified School District. Nicole Lalumiere-Weaving, an English teacher at Wilson Middle School in the Chowchilla Elementary School District, was named the teacher of the year.
In what resembled an Academy Awards ceremony, Sally Frazier, Ed.D, retired Madera County superintendent of schools, introduced the honorees at the Thursday evening gala at the Madera Municipal Golf Course Clubhouse Restaurant. Assisting were Cecilia Massetti, Ed.D, current superintendent, and Elizabeth Dooley, president and CEO of the Educational Employees Credit Union.
