A body of a veteran covered in tattoos is a canvas of stories, with each “ink” symbolizing survivals and scars of war, according to a new film.
This Veteran’s Day, today, an online documentary on stories of memorial tattoos called “War Ink” will be launched on its website, www.warink.org. A local Madera County veteran, Larry Milam from the United States Army National Guard, is one of 24 veterans featured in it.
The online exhibit is a “raw collection of original video, photography and audio interviews” that focuses on the tales behind their inks,” co-creator Christopher Brown said.
“Every tattoo on my body tells a story,” said veteran Ron “Doc” Riviera from Santa Cruz. “If people would just ask, they wouldn’t get a movie of a book. They would get the real thing.” ...
