City gears up for second community service event
The second communitywide day of volunteering, where Maderans have a chance to show love for their city by taking part in one of more than a dozen projects, is set for Sept. 22.
Madera is one of 40 cities in Northern California that organizes the day of service to promote volunteerism. Some smaller cities combine their projects. Each city puts the word “Love” before their name.
Usually, all the cities hold their love event on the same day. This time, however, Madera organizers set the Love Madera event a week ahead so that it wouldn’t conflict with Old Timers Day festivities.
