Seventh grade girls have until Feb. 13 to apply for a summer program called Tech Trek if they want to be eligible for a nearly full scholarship.
Except for a $50 family commitment, the $900 cost is underwritten by the local branch of the American Association of University Women.
Slated for June 14-20, the camp at Fresno State University will feature activities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Other participated institutions are Whittier College, Sonoma State, Stanford University and the Universities of California in San Diego, Davis, Irvine and Santa Barbara.
“Tech Trek camp not only provides an opportunity for girls to do hands-on science,” said AAUW member Lynda Schafhauser, “but also provides an opportunity to get to know and work with women in STEM fields.” ...
