Grandmother relates classroom incident at school board meeting
A teacher at James Monroe School has been accused of not allowing one of her first grade students to go to the bathroom, and then after he had an accident, making him sit in his soiled clothing for two hours.
The charge was made by Audrey Farrell, the child’s grandmother, during the public comments portion of Tuesday’s school board meeting.
Farrell alleged that on Aug. 28 the child’s father arrived at school to pick his son up. Upon reaching the classroom, Farrell said that the teacher “proceeded in a very loud voice in front of other parents and students to inform the father that his son had peed on himself.”
According to Farrell, the teacher told the father that his son “needed to be more responsible and utilize the 45 minutes they have for recess to use the restroom.” ...
