Central Valley Regionals needs sponsors

The Central Valley’s robotics event of the year will be in full roar today and Sunday at Madera South High School.

The event kicked off Friday, when 50 high-school teams comprised of bright minds in science and engineering prepared their constructed machines for the title of regional champion.

For the last four years, the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Central Valley Regional has brought schools from across the world and hundreds of students to Madera for a chance at a regional title, with advancement to the world championships for top performers.

“We’re feeling pretty confident,” said Justin Toney, a member of Madera High School’s Team 1323, or MadTown Robotics, which won second place last year. “We have a really good shot at it and our design is great. It’s going to be a really good chance for us.” ...
