Downtown arts center planned
The Madera County Arts Council plans to partner with three agencies to fund a feasibility study for an area where a future downtown arts center can be built.
“Picture a 500-seat theatre complex to showcase visual and cultural performance arts,” said MCAC president Dianna Marsh in a presentation to the Madera County Board of Supervisors this week. “There will be additional spaces for teaching parts in the community and tour exhibitions. We can hold art fairs, fundraisers and even weddings there.”
The building will not only promote all forms of arts, including visual, cultural and performing arts, in Madera but also can be used for other events, with the aim to draw more crowds to downtown Madera.
The MCAC is proposing the center to be built where Madera Superior Court stands at 209 W. Yosemite Ave. If approved, construction will begin after the court moves to its new location on 6th Street across from Courthouse Park...
