A man wanted in Merced County for firing a gun during a domestic dispute Wednesday night was arrested about noon Thursday, after a nine-hour standoff in Madera County.
A SWAT team threw tear gas into the man’s home on State Route 152 and Road 23, just on the Madera side of the Merced-Madera County line, to finally get him to come out, officials said.
Rodrigo Vecerra Fernandez, 26, was arrested for terrorist threats and negligent discharge of a firearm, both allegedly stemming from a domestic dispute, said Madera County Sheriff Lt. Bill Ward. Ward didn’t have information on what the dispute was about.
