The Latinas Unidas club is accepting nominations for the 2015 Mother of the Year award that they will announce and celebrate during their 13th annual Mother’s Day Tea in May.
Those interested in nominating should submit a two-page essay on why their mother or grandmother deserves the recognition and award, said Marge Me-dellin-Esquibel, head of the club’s event committee.
The essay should include the feelings the nominator has for their mother or grandmother, and the things she has done for the family, above all else. The deadline is April 24; nomination letters should be mailed to Latinas Unidas, 1625 Howard Road, Madera, CA 93637.
The event committee will choose the winner and she will be honored at the “Mother’s Day Tea” on May 9 at the Peters Brothers Nursery Hall. Proceeds from the luncheon will go to the six $1,000 scholarship awards Latinas Unidas gives out every year...
