FRESNO (AP) ― Fresno police have arrested three people and seized 127 pounds of marijuana and a cache of weapons at a home that they suspect served as part of a major pot growing and distribution ring.
Police Chief Jerry Dyer announced the arrests of 53-year-old Nava Thammavong, his 60-year-old wife, Khamphoud Thammavong, and their 21-year-old son, David Thammavong, on Tuesday. Local media reported the three were arrested last week on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale.
Police say in addition to the 127 pounds of marijuana, they found greenhouses and a shed where harvested marijuana was drying, $220,000 in cash and an assault rifle and other weapons on the property.
Dyer said investigators believe the family was connected to a distribution network that sent pot to states as far away as Texas and Minnesota.
