For the second time in less than a week a vehicle stuck on the railroad tracks was struck at high speed and demolished by an Amtrak passenger train. No injuries were reported.
The second incident happened Tuesday night about 8 p.m., near the intersection of Road 29 and Avenue 15 1/2, just east of the Madera city limits, according to the California Highway Patrol.
No skid marks were found at the intersection. Officers said the driver may have been unfamiliar with the rural T intersection, and might have briefly dozed off and missed the stop sign and turn in the dark.
