Like hundreds of other pet owners, the Capos strolled through Lions Town and Country Park with their dogs to check out services, games and contests they could take up with their pets during a festival and pet adoption fair.
Unlike last year, however, Mickey and Rick Capo, now had dogs who could actually benefit from the information and services offered by the 10th annual Strut Your Mutt on Saturday.
The annual event helped them become pet owners again last year after their Labrador service dog, who helped Rick get around, passed away. They had owned her for more than 12 years.
“We brought her every year to this event and then when she passed away last year we came and we didn’t have a dog. I said, ‘I don’t think I want to start over again,’ and that’s what made us adopt two dogs after walking through here and being so sad,” said Mickey...
