Emily Smith, a senior at Sherman Thomas Charter High School, is collecting blankets for the homeless for her senior project.
“I always wanted to do something for the shelter so I called the Madera Rescue Mission to see what their biggest need was” said Smith. “They told me their biggest need was twin sized blanket bedding.”
Smith said her senior project is a graduation requirement and a way to give back to the community.
Smith then decided to host a blanket drive and contacted the local Veterans of Foreign Wars hall to inquire about use of the parking lot. The Veterans approved use of the north side parking lot...
