The U.S. Department of Defense has announced that Madera’s Army Spec. Jessica L. LaTour has graduated from basic combat training in Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
La Tour’s nine-week training consisted of studying the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness. She also learned and practiced basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
LaTour is the daughter of Vivian Sanders, a 2005 graduate of Madera High School and a 2010 graduate of California State University, Fresno.
