City celebrates new low to mid-rent housing project

Local housing and development agencies reveled Wed-nesday in the newest multi-million dollar project that is home to low to moderate income residents, including farmworkers.

A city-owned five-acre parcel on the southwest corner of Clark Avenue and Owens Street is the site of the Arborpoint Apartments. New cabinetry and central heating and air conditioning are just some of the amenities in the two, three and four bedroom apartments.

More than half of the 64 units are already occupied, said Nick Benjamin, the executive director of the Madera Housing Authority, which collaborated in the project.
