Former Madera Coyote boys soccer standout Garrett Perez has come home.
Perez, 31, won a Valley Championship in 1997 with the Coyotes. He returns to head the girls soccer program, taking over for Eli Liuba, who coached the past four seasons.
Perez has a year of coaching experience under his belt with the Madera Nausicaa 15-under travel soccer team team, but feels his limited coaching experience won’t be a problem with the high school.
“I’ve been training kids since I was a teenager,” Perez said. “I’ve also been training groups in soccer as well. I believe I’ve had more experience than most coaches as a player. Because I know what it took as a player to get to a certain level, I know how to train players to get to that level.” ...
