To look at disease’s causes, prevention, researchers say
The American Cancer Society is asking Central Valley residents to participate in a study to help researchers better understand what causes cancer and how to prevent the disease.
Men and women between the ages of 30 and 65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer are needed to participate in the Society’s Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3). CPS-3 will enroll a diverse population of up to half a million people across the United States and Puerto Rico.
In-person enrollment will take place May 14 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Children’s Hospital Central California at 9300 Valley Children’s Place in Madera. Individuals need to schedule their enrollment by visiting www.cps3centralvalley.org or calling 1-888-604-5888.
During the enrollment, individuals will be asked to read and sign an informed consent form, complete a brief survey, have their waist circumference measured, and give a small blood sample. The in-person enrollment process takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete...
