Although more than 50 teams have registered for American Cancer Society’s Madera Relay For Life this year, the committee continues to seek more entries.
“Last year there were 64 teams and we are hoping to exceed that number,” said Charlotte Brewer, the 2013 Relay for Life chair.
The annual relay is one of the largest community-wide events in Madera with teams coming from businesses, families, agencies, schools, churches and groups of individuals to help raise funds for the fight against cancer.
The Relay For Life committee has been very active this year. In the past few weeks they held their annual “paint the town purple” day with purple ribbons being tied around trees and posts on some of Madera’s major streets in honor of cancer survivors. This past Saturday they sponsored a special Survivor Brunch to honor all those that have fought and bested the dreaded disease...
