Investigator implicates two MUSD trustees in vote deal

An investigation into charges of misconduct by three Madera Unified School District trustees is complete and a report that implicates two of the three has been filed with the school district.

The report says there was no misconduct by the board as a whole.

Private investigator Pete Chavez has concluded that trustees Lynn Cogdill and board clerk Maria Velarde-Garcia engaged in an attempt to persuade board president Ricardo Arredondo to have a principal fired “in favor of a particular superintendent candidate.”

Chavez concluded that Arredondo rejected the deal when it was presented to him by Velarde-Garcia...
