Madera pharmacist honored for 50 years of service to profession

Robert G. “Bob” Bitter, a pharmacist at Madera Community Hospital, has been recognized by the California State Board of Pharmacy for 50 years of service with an award presented by board president Stanley Weisser at the state Capitol. Bitter also received recognition from the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy.

Bitter graduated from UC San Francisco and began working at Stillman Drug in Fresno. After two years he opened his own pharmacy in Selma.

Fourteen years later he moved to Madera and purchased a poultry ranch northeast of the city.

However, he continued his pharmaceutical work at Payless Drug and then four years later became a clinical pharmacist at Madera Community Hospital...
