A Madera man will play the lead role in 12 performances of a Playhouse Merced live musical adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens holiday novel “A Christmas Carol.”
Scott “Dusty” Guthier, who lives in Madera with his wife Debbie and two children, Brandon and Kayla, will play Ebenezer Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol — A New Musical,” which plays four weekends from Nov. 22 to Dec. 15.

The novel has been a popular holiday tradition since it was first published and has been adapted into musicals, plays, television shows and movies over the past 170 years.
The production, which is suitable for all ages, features familiar tunes like “Sing a Christmas Carol,” “Christmas Eve at Fezziwig’s,” “As We Remember” and “God Bless Us, Everyone.” ...
