Madera High senior piles up honors and still works in family grocery
Ahmed Alhomedi, a 17-year-old Yemen-born senior student at Madera High School, has a work ethic that many people, even those far removed from high school, could consider a goal to strive for.
As soon as classes end on weekday afternoons, Alhomedi — who has maintained a 4.0 GPA for more than six years and has a 4.4 this year — goes to work at his father Mohammed’s store, Sunrise Food Market, often late into the night.
“I work from right after school and don’t get home until about 10 or later,” Alhomedi said. “It’s not a bad thing to be that busy, it’s a good thing. It keeps me active and focused, I think.”
Alhomedi may be modest when asked, but his accomplishments speak for themselves...
