“Our heroes.” A simple message with a simple meaning, but for residents of Cedar Creek Senior Living in Madera those words have become a daily and meaningful tribute to the sacrifice, and memory, of America’s veterans.
Because on Wednesday afternoon that message, accompanied by a hand-painted American flag mural and photos of veteran residents — many now deceased — were dedicated as the center’s Veterans Wall of Fame.
“When the idea was mentioned I immediately thought to myself it’s a great idea because we have a number of residents here that were in the service,” Cedar Creek executive director Martin Vale said. “It’s a good way to honor them, remember them, thank them, and respect them for all that they’ve done.”
