Law library offers free access to resources

Hidden near a corner of the Madera Superior Court, right next to State Route 99, an abundance of legal information lies free and ready to use for anyone willing to make the effort to search through it.

The Madera County Law Library is an annex to the Madera Superior Court, and one does not even have to pass through security to access it, as is common for most other areas of the building. In the long, narrow portable, extensive shelves hold books full of anything and everything from antique codes to today’s law.

California requires every county to maintain a law library open to the public, but not every county is currently doing that, according to Madera County Law Library Director Kristina Olvera.
